four simple things #05

crayonsWhat we are eating: Warm Quinoa and Chicken Salad

I love One-Pot Meals. Mostly because I hate doing dishes. But also because I can feed them to my 6-month old baby (sans salt). Cooking everything together in a pot makes it nice, soft, and baby friendly. Learn more about feeding babies real food on an upcoming webinar.

What we are playing: Etsy-Made Doll House

Pretend play is fun, but it’s also how children practice for their future roles. When you give a boy a Superman Doll, his pretend play centers around “rescuing”. I make sure my son has a plain old doll that grocery shops and cooks dinner. Because someday, I want my son and my daughter to grocery shop and cook dinner.

What I am wearing: My Pre-Pregnancy Wardrobe

I am thankful that elastic waist pants aren’t just for the elderly anymore. At least that’s what I am told by the young people at Madewell who call me “ma’am”. It only took six months postpartum, but I am about 90% back into my pre-baby wardrobe capsule. But regardless, the elastic waists are staying.

What I am pondering: The ABCs

My 2.75 year old is starting to show a bit of interest in letters. He is in a Montessori school and the way they teach literacy is very different from what I know. Honestly it’s a complete mystery to me. But I am learning a lot from this book.

I hope you all are sipping on your PSLs and enjoy a beautiful long weekend.

Cheers,

Denaye
